Safety & Emergency · Ocean City, Maryland

How do I signal for help in a rip current?

Answer

Conserve energy, float or tread water, and wave one arm while calling for help rather than fighting straight into the current. Swim parallel to shore if you can escape the rip’s pull. Always swim near lifeguards when they are on duty.
