How this directory works

OCEANCITY.MD is expanding from category guides alone to a full restaurant index: each venue eventually gets its own page with practical planning fields—what it is best for, what to know before you go, and category links—once phone, address, and hours have been checked against owner or primary sources.

Until a profile is live, use the cuisine and mood hubs on food & drink (seafood, kid-friendly, takeout & delivery, and the rest) the same way you always have. Editorial picks stay concentrated in voted best & awards and secret diner and Good Eats.

Listings here are original directory pages, not scraped menus. We do not fabricate reviews or star ratings; when review modules ship, they will follow the site’s source-backed policy.

Want the closest map pins to your device first? Open restaurants near me for an optional GPS sort (crow-fly miles to each profile’s pin—open the listing for turn-by-turn maps).

Building days around sports, arcades, sightseeing, or biking—then eating—route trip context through Things to do — activity minisites (same page as the full Things to do guide).

Operators: use Claim your listing (also on each restaurant page), or reach us through advertising & listings / contact so the public data stays accurate through the season.

Directory FAQs

What is the Ocean City restaurants directory?
A rolling A–Z index of restaurant profile pages in Ocean City, Maryland. Each live listing is an original directory page with practical fields—what a spot is best for, what to know before you go, and category links—once phone, address, and hours-style facts have been checked against owner or primary sources.
Does the directory include scraped menus or star ratings?
No. Listings are original editorial pages, not scraped menus. We do not fabricate reviews or star ratings; any future review modules will follow the site’s source-backed policy.
Where should I browse while more profiles are still publishing?
Until every profile is live, use the cuisine and mood hubs on food and drink—seafood, kid-friendly, takeout and delivery, and the rest. Each hub’s hero includes a shortcut that opens this page with the same hub keywords prefilled in the filter, plus “Copy shareable link” for the absolute URL. Curated picks stay on voted best and awards and secret diner; snackable editorial reads live on Good Eats.
How do I move quickly through the alphabetical listings?
Use the letter row above the A–Z blocks—it jumps to each section, and once JavaScript runs the chip for the block nearest the top highlights while you scroll (keyboard users still move by the links and headings). Each letter section is a responsive card grid: stars (when we have a Google or Yelp snapshot), full neighborhood line, cuisines, and the short deck. When any filter is active, each visible letter chip’s number shows how many profiles in that section still match. Names beginning with numbers or symbols are grouped under “#”. Individual profiles also link back to the matching letter so you can scan siblings in the directory.
Can I search the directory instead of scrolling?
Yes—use the search field and dropdowns above the letter row. The text filter matches names, slug-style keywords (hyphens count as word breaks), hub URL words derived from category paths (e.g. takeout and delivery), the short deck line, full profile paragraphs, neighborhood, category tags, cuisine labels, price symbols ($–$$$), published street or city line and ZIP when we list them, phone as printed on the profile plus digits-only for searches without punctuation, the website hostname (without “www.”), the “last reviewed” month when shown on a profile, and the “best for” / “good to know” fields (every word you type must appear somewhere in that combined text). Matching treats accented letters like their plain Latin forms (e.g. café and cafe), normalizes curly quotes and non-breaking spaces from pasted text, and turns typographic ellipsis (…) into three dots. The Area menu narrows by broad buckets (West OC, Uptown, Midtown, Downtown)—cards still show each venue’s full neighborhood line. The Cuisine menu matches one of the cuisine tags on the card. Restaurant profiles include a “Match in A–Z” control that lands here with the same text tokens prefilled and scrolls to the A–Z block, plus “Copy A–Z link” for the full absolute URL (including #a-z-list) in texts and apps. A status line reports how many profiles match when any filter is active. Letter chips hide for empty sections after filtering, and each visible chip’s count shows how many profiles in that letter still match until you clear. Press Esc to clear the text field and reset the dropdowns; use the inline clear control when nothing matches; / to jump focus into the search field when you are not typing elsewhere; or Enter (with text in the field) to jump focus to the first visible card link. You can share a narrowed text view with a ?q= query; while that filter is active the address bar also adds a #a-z-list fragment so opens land on the A–Z heading, and the browser back and forward buttons re-apply whatever ?q= and hash were in that history entry. When the text field is not empty, use “Copy link to this search” to copy the full URL in one click.
Can I see which restaurants are closest to my phone or hotel?
Use restaurants near me (hero shortcut or food & drink). After you allow location in the browser, listings with map pins sort by straight-line miles on your device—we do not receive your GPS coordinates. Results are crow-fly distance to each profile’s pin, not bridge traffic; open a profile for maps, parking context, and hours.
Does printing hide filtered-out restaurants?
No. Print styles expand the full A–Z list on paper even if the on-screen filter is narrowing results—filters and letter shortcuts are omitted from print so saved or PDF copies stay complete.
If I share a link with ?q= in the address bar, is that a separate page for SEO?
No. The site’s canonical URL for this directory is always the unfiltered page—search engines consolidate signals on that single URL. The ?q= parameter is there for readers: it restores the same on-screen filter when someone opens the link, but it does not create a second “official” version of the index.

A–Z listings (315 profiles)

Typing filters the card grid and letter row (tags, cuisines, and profile blurbs count too). Area buckets: West OC, Uptown, Midtown, Downtown, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Fenwick Island—cards still show the full neighborhood. Cuisine matches a venue cuisine tag. With text in the field, each visible letter chip’s number is how many listings in that section match. Esc clears text and resets the dropdowns; / focuses this field when you are not in another input; Enter moves focus to the first visible card when the field is not empty.
