Tap Use my location when you are at the spot you want to plan around, or enter a stay address
and choose Sort from stay. Sorting happens in your browser—we do not send GPS or addresses to
our servers. Copy link shares ?nm_run=1#near-me-explorer so the next visit jumps to the tools and can
auto-prompt for location. Distances are crow-fly miles to each profile pin, not bridge traffic. Confirm summer
hours with the venue before you walk or drive. Keep official portals handy when festivals reshape parking.
When dinner follows a long activity block—mini golf, boardwalk games, a bike loop—pair the meal search with Things to do — activity minisites for hub routing (not live kitchen ETAs).

Restaurants near me — FAQs
- Why do I need to tap “Use my location” or enter an address?
- Browsers only share precise GPS after you approve. You can also type a stay address so we sort around your condo or hotel instead. Sorting runs on your device—we do not send your GPS or address to our server.
- Is driving distance the same as the miles shown?
- No. Distances are straight-line (as the crow flies) from your phone or laptop to the geocoded address on each profile. Use the profile’s map link for turn-by-turn routes.
- Why is a restaurant missing from the sorted list?
- Every current profile has coordinates—either from OpenStreetMap geocoding or a manual block-level pin when the street line is non-standard (boardwalk ranges, intersections). If a future listing ships before its pin is added, it will stay in the full A–Z directory until coordinates land.
- Can I combine “closest” with cuisine or style filters?
- On the food & drink hub, open the header restaurant finder, choose Area → Closest to me, add Cuisine or Style (or keywords), then Search—results stay distance-sorted after you allow location.
- How do I share this “near me” page with someone else?
- Use Copy link to copy a URL with ?nm_run=1 and #near-me-explorer—when they open it, the page jumps to the location tools, asks for their location, and sorts listings. You can also add those parameters yourself (nm_run=true works too). After a successful sort, nm_run is removed from the address bar (Copy link still has it); the hash is kept so refreshes stay anchored to the tools until you navigate away.
- What if location says it timed out or is unavailable?
- Try again with Wi‑Fi on, wait for a GPS fix outdoors or near a window, or tap Use my location after the page fully loads. The browser may take up to about twelve seconds before reporting a timeout.
- I use “Reduce motion” on my device—what changes here?
- If your system asks sites to reduce motion, we use a shorter “Copied” state on Copy link and scroll to the result list without smooth scrolling—same data, less animation.
- Can I link someone straight to “miles from me” on one restaurant profile?
- Use Copy link in that profile’s Quick facts (crow-flight miles row), or add ?pdist=1 (or pdist=true) and #profile-crow-flight yourself. When they open it, the page jumps to that row, asks for their location once, and fills crow-flight miles to the profile’s directory pin; pdist is then removed from the address bar so refreshes do not re-prompt automatically (the hash usually stays, like on the near-me page).
- Can I sort golf courses or clubhouse grills by distance from my phone here?
- No—this tool only geosorts verified restaurant directory profiles. For mainland regulation courses and drive bands from the beach, use the golf hub and directory; clubhouse meals still need the course’s own site or phone.
- Where do I read how Town, Chamber, OC Ocean, and OceanCity.com differ for trip-wide notices?
- Open /ocean-city-info.html#official-portals—useful when festival detours or beach rules affect whether you can reach the reservation you just sorted closest-first.
