Ocean City Beach Patrol · Ocean City, Maryland

What should I do if Beach Patrol warns about rip currents?

Answer

Heed red or double-red flags by staying out of the water or swimming only in front of an open tower with guard approval. If caught in a rip, float and signal—do not exhaust yourself swimming straight to shore. Teach kids to find the nearest guard stand before they run into the surf on rough days.
