Keep sharks in water alongside boats when possible, cut hooks or leave corroding steel if deep-hooked, and never drag large sharks onto hot piers for photos. Follow DNR and federal HMS guidance on prohibited species. Chum ethics and swim-zone distance matter as much as release technique.
