Term definitions

Head boat / party boat

A shared fishing vessel with a fixed schedule and per-seat economics—expect rail etiquette and crew-led compliance, not a private hull for your group alone.

Private charter

A captained trip booked for your party’s head count; pace and targets flex more than a party-boat rail, still governed by regulations and crew judgment.

“Six-pack” (informal)

Colloquial for small passenger-for-hire limits—verify the vessel’s certified capacity, insurance, and booking paperwork; not legal advice.

Basic listing (charter directory)

A thinner charter card used to sort the fleet—often still showing phone, marina, and trip cues when sourced. Confirm name, slip, and trip details with the captain before you pay. Full guides add a local write-up, rates notes, and FAQs.

Angling vs pleasure boating (on this site)

Fishing hubs cover rods, regulations, and captained angling; the boating hub covers PWC, non-fishing rentals, and marina days without centering a fishing trip.
