About this Ocean City video

Assateague Island is the wild counterweight to Ocean City’s neon. Just south of the Inlet, National Seashore and state park landscapes hold salt marsh, dunes, and the famous wild horses. This video is ideal trip inspiration for Ocean City visitors who want at least one day that feels like nature, not arcade.

Access from Ocean City typically runs MD 611 to the Verrazano Bridge corridor onto Assateague. Bring cash/card for entry fees, insect repellent for marsh seasons, and respect for wildlife distance—ponies bite and kick; feeding them is illegal and harmful. Beach driving and camping have separate rules and reservations.

Weather on Assateague can feel windier and more exposed than the boards. Fog, flies, and sudden storms are normal. Combine with OC lodging so you can retreat to a pool and seafood dinner after sandy miles.
