About this event
The Huk Big Fish Classic (13th annual) is Ocean City’s downtown overnight offshore showpiece. Unlike West Ocean City’s Sunset Avenue tuna and billfish campuses, this one stages at Talbot Street Pier and M.R. Ducks (311 Talbot St)—a bayfront logistics story closer to boardwalk-district parking and nightlife.
2025 paid out a published $1,256,150 total, with top boats such as Honor (~$458K) and Good Vibrations (~$164K) illustrating how optional levels can dwarf base entry math. Organizers also highlight a new Ladies Marlin Release category for 2026—confirm scoring in the live rules PDF on bigfishclassic.com.
Format: teams choose a Friday–Saturday or Saturday–Sunday 32-hour window. Lines in are commonly 7:00 a.m.; lines out mid-afternoon (3:00 p.m. on the closing day of each slot). The heaviest qualifying Atlantic fish wins the headline chase—eligible lists historically span billfish, tuna, swordfish, mahi, wahoo, and sharks, but electronics and imaging-sonar rules are published yearly and must be read before you enter.
2026 schedule of events: Thursday, July 23 — onsite registration 12:00–8:00 p.m. at M.R. Ducks; captains meeting 8:00 p.m.; vendors, charity raffles, and beer in the parking lot (afternoon/evening). Friday, July 24 — lines in 7:00 a.m. for Fri–Sat teams; scales 4:00–9:00 p.m.; Crush Party 6:00–8:00 p.m. in Big Fish Village; live music. Saturday, July 25 — lines in 7:00 a.m. for Sat–Sun teams; Fri–Sat lines out 3:00 p.m.; scales 4:00–9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26 — Sat–Sun lines out 3:00 p.m.; scales 4:00–8:00 p.m.; awards banquet 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot. Big Fish Village vendors open daily from 3:00 p.m.
Boats typically must be visible from Talbot Street Pier by published cutoffs to weigh—channel and phone procedures appear in the rules. Downtown Talbot Street is a different traffic pattern than West Ocean City: budget boardwalk-district parking, bayfront crowds, and dinner around scale rush.

Quick planning tips
- Pad marina and Route 50 minutes—tournament weeks compress West Ocean City and inlet corridors.
- Book lodging early; billfish and tuna weeks stack with summer beach demand.
- Confirm weigh-in windows and public viewing rules with the host marina before you promise kids a “scale night.”

Top FAQs
- Does OCEANCITY.MD sell entries for the Huk Big Fish Classic?
- No—register only through the official tournament or host marina channels linked on this page. We publish planning context, not entry desks.
- Will this tournament affect my recreational charter day?
- Often yes near host docks—weigh-in crowds, trailer traffic, and reserved slips can slow staging. Ask your captain, and keep a non-tournament backup window. See charter trip picker and marinas.
- Can visitors watch the scales?
- Yes—Big Fish Village and Talbot Street evening scales are marketed as public-facing. Confirm same-day access, music, and Crush Party guest rules on bigfishclassic.com.
