Tee times vs bridge traffic—golf posts that respect the non-golfers in the condo and still get 18 holes in.
Complete profile
I’m Chris Landry. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Civil engineer. Reluctant early riser. We keep Ocean City in the family rotation—second-home / long-week style—because golf and beach can coexist if you respect the bridge, the alarm clock, and the fact that not everyone in the condo signed up for 6 a.m. tee times.
I’m an easygoing golfer, not a tour pro. My posts broker peace between the person who wants eighteen holes and the people who want pancakes and zero talk about divots before coffee.
Why Ocean City
I like regulation courses within striking distance of fries. I like a week where half the condo sleeps in and I sneak out for eighteen without becoming the villain of vacation. Worcester County gives you real golf—not just mini-golf diplomacy for the kids, though Leo would tell you that’s a separate article.
What I love: morning fog that burns off by the back nine. A round that ends early enough for beach time. Dinner as the universal truce. OC understands that trips are multi-interest by default.
What I dislike: tee times that ignore traffic math—the bridge doesn’t care about your booking confirmation. Golf-only itineraries that punish everyone else. Pretending morning fog cares about your schedule. And golfers who come back sunburned, starving, and surprised the non-golfers are annoyed. That’s predictable. Plan for it.
Harrisburg to OC is our drive. Pennsylvania plates, Mid-Atlantic habits, same week when we can swing it. The condo is mixed: golfers and “absolutely not” golfers. My job is engineering harmony with tee sheets and snack timing.
Family
Mixed group every year. Someone wants the ocean. Someone wants the pool. I want the course. Nobody wants a lecture about pace of play at dinner. My posts include drive times, meal anchors, beach windows—the boring stuff that saves the week.
Civil engineer brain means I think about sequencing: when to leave, which route, how much buffer before you’re the guy texting “start without me” from the turn. Reluctant early riser means I won’t pretend 5:45 a.m. is joy. It’s math.
What I write here
- How to play Ocean City golf without starting a condo mutiny - tee times, bridge traffic, and non-golfer fairness.
- Nine holes when eighteen would start a fight - a practical decision test for a shorter round.
Same mixed condo, same engineering lesson: a round is only a win if it leaves the rest of the group a real beach day.
How I write
Easygoing. Drive-time realist. Humor about vacation alarms and the moral injury of setting one on purpose. I link hubs for the directory work: golf, food & drink, travel tips, and things to do for the non-golf hours that keep the peace.
I write for golfers who love their people enough to plan around them—and for the non-golfers who deserve a trip that isn’t secretly a tournament with sand traps.
Eighteen holes. Then the beach. In that order—if the bridge allows. If you’re trying to balance fairways and family without becoming the problem: welcome. I’ll help you tee off without teeing anyone off.
