I’m Priya Shah. Chicago. I manage corporate travel for a living, which means I’ve seen every way a listing can lie with good lighting—and every way a group chat can avoid asking the questions that would have saved the week.

Ocean City is our Mid-Atlantic beach choice when we come east: no connecting flight, classic board-and-beach energy, and lodging that runs the gamut from “perfect for us” to “who approved these elevator photos.” I’m a traveler from farther away than the PA/NJ default. Detail maximalist is not an insult. It’s how you avoid paying twice—once in money, once in patience.

Why Ocean City

I like Mid-Atlantic beach weeks that don’t require a cross-country sprint with a layover and a lost bag. When we come east, Ocean City is a clean, classic choice—walkable enough, backup plans enough, honest enough about being a resort town.

What I love: options. Condos, hotels, houses—if you read carefully. A week that can work for multi-gen family if you pick the right floor and the right parking plan. Proximity to Ocean City Info basics—beach rules, town rhythm—without needing a research degree.

What I dislike: surprise resort fees. Elevators that become personality tests at check-in. “Ocean view” that requires yoga and a favorable squint. “Walk to beach” that omits the hill, the crosswalk, and the stroller reality. Check-in chaos with kids and no Plan B for parking. Listing photos that showcase a lamp like it’s the main attraction.

Chicago to OC is long enough that a bad lodging pick ruins more than one night. I write so you ask the questions before you pay.

Who I am
