Complete profile
Hi. I’m Leo Park. I’m 10. I live in Columbia, Maryland. We come to Ocean City with my family every summer and I take notes like it’s my job. (It’s not my job. Yet.)
I’m in fourth grade. At home I do school, soccer sometimes, and arguing with my sibling about who got the better seat in the car. Here in OC I’m the unofficial ride critic—the kid who asks “is this worth it?” out loud so the grown-ups don’t have to pretend they’re having fun in a line that’s too long.
Why Ocean City
I like: the beach, mini golf, rides that don’t make me wait forever, and pizza that arrives before I get weird. I like when the Boardwalk lights come on and it feels like the whole place switched modes. Free sand entertainment is underrated. Grown-ups pay for a lot of stuff. Sand is just there.
I don’t like: lines that trick you—when the sign says five minutes but it’s really twenty-five. When grown-ups say “five more minutes” for the 11th time. Shoes full of sand when you’re trying to be cool. And rainy days where nobody has a plan except “stay inside and be bored.” That’s fixable. I write about the fixable stuff.
Ocean City works for kids because you can do a lot without being a teenager with money. Beach. Walk. Mini golf. Sometimes a ride if the line isn’t lying.
My family
Parents, sibling drama, cousins sometimes. I’m the one with the scorecard—literally at mini golf, figuratively everywhere else. Sophie Reed is my friend who writes here too. She’s cooler about shells and ice cream. I’m cooler about whether the line is too long for a kid. We balance each other.
My parents read my notes before we leave the condo. That’s the whole point. If I say a playground is “mid,” they don’t waste a morning. If I say a ride is “actually worth it,” they budget the tickets. Fair trade.
What I write here
- Mini golf lines that are too long for a kid - my honest wait-time and worth-it test.
- Playground tour before mini golf money - the free energy test before parents buy tickets.
Same kid, same scorecard: a playground stop can make mini golf better because nobody should pay for cranky-kid putting.
How I write
Short sentences. Honest ratings. Worth it / skip it / too long for a kid. Tips grown-ups can use even if I sound like a kid—because I am one.
If something is unsafe, ask an adult and read the signs. I don’t make rules. I report the fun. I don’t know tide charts or fishing laws. I know whether a playground has shade and whether the mini golf course lets you play without waiting an hour.
Check family fun, amusements, and mini golf when you want the big map. For rainy-day backup, rainy days helps. I’ll tell you what it feels like from three feet lower—and whether your kid will actually thank you for going.
If you’re a parent who wants a kid’s honest take before you spend the tickets: hi. I’m your scout.
