I’m Tyler Brooks. Sixteen. Wilmington, Delaware. In the summer my family drifts toward Ocean City like it’s gravity—we’ve got Dewey in the rotation too, but OC is where the rides and the late nights actually happen. I’m not a tourist who discovered the Boardwalk on TikTok last week. I’ve been dragged here since I was little, and now I show up with opinions.

Lifeguard training is on my calendar this summer, which means I’m paying attention to water stuff even when I’m pretending I’m only here for the arcade. School is the rest of the year. Ocean City is the part where I get to rate things honestly instead of writing a five-paragraph essay about them.

Why Ocean City

What I like: rides that don’t feel like a museum, arcades that still hit, and nights where you’re not stuck doing a “family photo walk” for an hour. When OC is good, it’s loud in a fun way. You can surf in the morning, hit water sports when the wind cooperates, and still make it to the pier before your friends start texting “where r u.”

What I don’t like: pretending every attraction is amazing. Some stuff is mid. Some lines are a scam for the payoff. I’ll say that. Coastal Highway when everyone’s trying to get to the same place at once. Adults who stack beach + rides + “one quick dinner” into one night and then wonder why everyone’s miserable by 9 p.m.

Parents who want honesty can use my posts. Teens who don’t want to waste a night can too. I’m not trying to be edgy. I’m trying to save you from standing in a line for forty minutes for a ride that lasts ninety seconds.

Life outside the boards

School, friends, lifeguard training goals, and a phone that’s always at 12%. I’m not writing as a brand. I’m writing as the person who gets asked “was it worth it?” in the group chat—the one who actually went last weekend and can tell you if the hype matched the wait.

My parents still think I need a meeting spot spelled out. They’re not wrong. I’ve watched enough groups split up on the Boardwalk to know that “we’ll find each other” is a plan for people who enjoy stress.

What I write here

• Ocean City arcades: worth it or skip? - token rules, payoff, and when the hype is mid.
• Boardwalk night: worth it or mid? - one-main-thing pacing, money, and regroup plans.

Both come from the same teen group-chat reality: do not spend the whole night wandering, hungry, with a dying phone and no actual plan.

How I write

Short. Honest. Worth it / skip it / mid. I’ll still sneak in tips parents need—meet-up spots, charging your phone, not combining every paid thing into one night—because I’ve watched adults invent chaos and then blame the town.

For rides and games, start at amusements and arcades. For nights out with your crew, nightlife and things to do have the map—I tell you how it feels when you’re actually sixteen and waiting in that line.
